New Year Resolutions, Kickstart Your Goals!

As we move in to the new year, we set new intentions, goals and strive to be a better version of yourself. 

 

The hard part is creating a plan of action to achieve our goals. Whether you’ve taken a break from health and fitness or starting your new health and fitness regime, we’ve broken down some steps to take as you prepare.

  

Reflect: 

Take a minute to reflect on what worked well for you last year and what didn’t. Anything you noticed that stood in your way? Now is your time to acknowledge your set backs and put achievable expectations in plan for yourself. 

 

Goals:

Now that we have reasonable exceptions of ourselves, put together some short term and long term goals. The short could be anything within the first 6 months of the year whether that would look like eating from a meal plan 6 days per week, hitting 8,000 steps per day or working out 3 times per week. Start light and achievable to set the tone as we aim for our long term goals. 

 

Routine:

Create yourself a routine that works for you. One of the keys to maintaining a consistent fitness routine and making it realistic and sustainable. Consider your schedule, commitments and preferences. Whether it's morning workouts, lunchtime walks, or evening pilates, find a schedule that aligns with you. 

 

Nutrition:

Evaluate your eating habits and make gradual, sustainable changes. Focus on incorporating whole, nutrient-dense foods into your diet, stay hydrated, and be mindful of portion sizes. Accountability and support:

Share your health and fitness goals with friends, family, or join a supportive community. Accountability can be a powerful motivator, and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can provide encouragement. Consider joining a challenge that keeps you motivated and focussed. Having your workouts suggested for you and an end in sight can help when you feel overwhelmed or unmotivated. These can help you see drastic changes in short periods which can boost your overall mindset when striving toward your goals.
